Can a fall cause arthritis in the knee?

I had a nasty fall while playing cricket a few months back, and my knee hasn't been the same since. It aches a lot, especially when it's cold. Can a fall like that actually cause arthritis in the knee later on?

Yes, a knee injury from a fall can lead to post-traumatic arthritis years later. I have high blood pressure and joint issues, and my doctor says maintaining a healthy weight is crucial to reduce pressure on the injured knee. Get it checked by an orthopedician.

It certainly can, as joint trauma often damages the cartilage. If your doctor allows, try low-impact exercises like swimming or cycling to strengthen the muscles around the knee. Keeping the joint active but not overloaded is key to preventing stiff arthritis.

I can only speak from my own experience. I had a bad fall from a scooter five years ago and hurt my left knee. Now, during winters or rainy seasons, that same knee gets very stiff and aches, which my doctor said is early post-traumatic arthritis.

Beta, old injuries often turn into joint pain as we age. You can massage the knee gently with warm sesame oil mixed with a little camphor for relief. But if there is a lot of swelling or you cannot walk, please show a doctor immediately.

Please don't ignore knee pain after a fall. I slipped in the bathroom, felt a mild pain, and ignored it for two years. Now I have chronic arthritis in that knee because of an untreated ligament tear. Get a proper MRI done before it's too late.

Yes, trauma to the joint from a fall can damage the cartilage and lead to post-traumatic arthritis over time. Try putting an ice pack for 10 minutes to reduce initial swelling. If the pain persists, a visit to an orthopedic doctor is the best next step.

Don't believe anyone who says a magic oil or paste will cure knee pain after a fall. If the fall damaged your meniscus or ligaments, it will lead to arthritis if left untreated. Go to a certified orthopedician and get a proper diagnosis.

I panicked so much when my knee swelled up after a fall, thinking I would get permanent arthritis. But the doctor gave me some basic physio exercises and it healed completely. It's not always worst-case, so don't worry, just get it checked!

Yes, joint trauma can lead to arthritis. Along with medical treatment, try adding anti-inflammatory foods like turmeric, ginger, and walnuts to your vegetarian diet. Reducing processed foods can also help lower joint inflammation.

Oh no, hope you aren't in too much pain! Yes, a bad fall can sometimes trigger arthritis later, but don't stress too much right now. Just rest your leg, use a crepe bandage, and see a doctor to make sure there's no major ligament damage.

In my experience, gentle stretching and light yoga like Sukshma Vyayama can help keep the joints lubricated after a fall. Cartilage damage from a fall can indeed turn into arthritis, so listen to your body and don't force any painful movements.

Trust the healing power of your body, but also seek proper medical guidance. A fall can sometimes weaken the joint and lead to arthritis. Keep your mind calm, avoid straining the leg, and let the doctors guide you. Blessings for your recovery.

Yes, it's called post-traumatic arthritis. A hard blow to the knee during a fall can wear down the protective cartilage. Skip the home remedies for now and get an X-ray or MRI done to see the exact state of your joint.

A fall can cause joint damage that leads to arthritis. As a diabetic, any joint inflammation can take longer to heal, so keeping your blood sugar in check is very important to prevent further complications. Consult your doctor for safe pain management.

Yes, unfortunately, a bad slip can invite arthritis to the knee party later in life! 😅 Keep a check on it, use some ice packs, and don't do heavy running until a doctor clears you. Take care and stay positive!
