Are urinary tract infections common during pregnancy?

In my second trimester, I've been feeling a bit uncomfortable lately, with some frequent urges to go to the washroom. My mother-in-law mentioned UTIs are common for pregnant women. Is that true, should I be concerned?

Yes, UTIs are incredibly common during pregnancy due to hormonal changes and pressure on the bladder. But don't ignore it, get a urine culture done immediately. Untreated UTIs can lead to kidney issues or early labor, so talk to your gynecologist today.

They are very common, but you need to be cautious. Drink plenty of water throughout the day and make sure you go to your gynecologist for a proper prescription. Don't try to self-medicate with random antibiotics as it is risky during pregnancy.

My bhabhi had this recently during her pregnancy and she was so uncomfortable. The doctor told her it happens to a lot of women. She just drank tons of water and took the prescribed meds to clear it up.

Yes, they are pretty common because of physical changes. Along with the doctor's treatment, staying well-hydrated is key. I always tell people to keep drinking water and maintain clean personal hygiene to avoid these infections.

I had a UTI during my second trimester and it was quite painful. My doctor prescribed pregnancy-safe antibiotics which cleared it up in a week. I also made sure to drink coconut water daily to soothe the burning sensation.
