Are tortillas better than bread for diabetics?

My doctor asked me to cut down on regular bread due to my diabetes. I'm looking for alternatives for my rotis or chapatis. Are tortillas better than bread for diabetics, or should I look for something else entirely?

Honestly, both can spike your sugar if they are made of refined white flour. I switched to whole-wheat tortillas and sourdough bread, which work much better for my glucose levels. Just check the labels before buying.

People online will tell you tortillas are healthy, but many commercial brands have more sodium and preservatives than normal bread. Don't trust random marketing claims. Take both packets to your clinical nutritionist and get them verified.

I kept switching between different fancy wraps and multigrain breads thinking I was safe, while my blood sugar levels were silently rising. Don't guess. Go get a proper diabetic screening and let your doctor guide your diet.

Hey, don't worry. Neither is inherently 'better'—it all depends on the ingredients. A 100% whole wheat tortilla is better than white bread, but whole-grain bread is better than a refined flour tortilla. Just focus on high-fiber options.

Nutritionally, a standard flour tortilla has about 150 calories and 25g of carbs, while a slice of whole wheat bread is around 80 calories and 12g of carbs. Tracking your macros on an app helps. Always check the nutrition panel.

At Fortis, my father's doctor clearly told us that most packaged tortillas are highly processed and not necessarily better than whole grain bread. You should get a personalized diet plan from a professional who knows your medical history.

According to my endocrinologist, corn tortillas are generally better than white bread due to their lower glycemic index and higher fiber. However, flour tortillas can actually spike sugar faster. It is vital to check the ingredients list for refined flour.

It mostly depends on what they are made of! Corn tortillas are usually better than white bread because they have a lower glycemic index. Just keep an eye on the portion size and you're good to go!

Natural home-cooked meals are always superior to any packaged wraps or bread. If you are experiencing diabetic symptoms like extreme thirst or fatigue, please consult a qualified doctor immediately instead of trying to adjust diets on your own.

I love wraps but let's be real, a thick flour tortilla can have as many carbs as three slices of bread! If you have cravings, go for thin corn tortillas loaded with grilled chicken or paneer and lots of fresh veggies.

As someone managing type 2 diabetes, I always look at the total carb and fiber content. A thin, low-carb whole wheat tortilla often has fewer net carbs than two slices of normal bread, which makes it easier to manage my blood sugar.

I know how stressful it is to choose between daily foods. I tried replacing bread with different wraps but found that making simple, thin chapatis out of ragi or jowar at home works best and is much safer for sugar levels.
