I was actually reading my corporate policy yesterday and got so confused about this. Does the spousal cover have a separate sub-limit or is it shared with my primary limit? I always worry if a major emergency will exhaust the sum insured for both of us.

In most corporate plans, the spouse is covered under the same floater sum insured. Since I have high BP and require regular checkups, we had to get a separate top-up plan because corporate covers are often not enough for long-term lifestyle diseases.

They are usually the same, but please check the co-pay clauses. When my wife had a medical emergency last year, we realized her spousal cover had a 20% co-payment rule which wasn't there for my own treatment. Always verify these terms with your HR.

I panicked when my husband changed jobs because I thought my medical coverage would stop instantly. But actually, corporate spousal cover functions exactly like the employee's main policy, you just need to ensure your name is registered correctly in the HR portal.

Yes, they are mostly part of the same corporate group policy! It's a great benefit because you don't have to pay extra premium out of your pocket. Just double-check with your HR team to add your partner's name on time.
