Are halls bad during pregnancy?
I'm in my first trimester and dealing with a mild cough. I usually take Halls lozenges for a cough. Are Halls bad during pregnancy, or can I use them safely for some relief?

I always tell my pregnant clients to focus on clean food and light walks for immunity rather than relying on over-the-counter lozenges. An occasional Halls might not do major harm, but the high sugar or artificial menthol in them isn't ideal. Warm water with honey and ginger works much better.

Please do not self-medicate or take even basic cough drops without asking your doctor. I had some complications in my pregnancy and realized that even small things can sometimes cause issues. If you have a severe cough or fever, please get checked by your gynecologist immediately.
Beta, during pregnancy it is always better to avoid these chemical-filled market candies. You can safely try warm water gargles with a pinch of salt, or a little ginger tea with tulsi. If your throat ache is very severe, please consult your doctor before taking any medicine.

I was looking this up for my wife recently and read that while standard menthol in small amounts is generally considered okay, some medicated cough drops are not recommended. It's honestly safest to just run the brand name by your doc during your next checkup.
