Are fruit shakes good for weight loss?

I see a lot of people having fruit shakes as meal replacements for weight loss. I'm trying to shed some kilos, and they seem like an easy option. Can fruit shakes genuinely help with losing weight, or are there hidden traps?

Be very careful with these diet drinks. I blindly replaced my meals with heavy fruit shakes, which caused a severe digestive imbalance and a massive spike in my triglyceride levels. Please consult a qualified doctor before replacing regular meals with shakes.

Technically, blending fruits breaks down the fiber, which leads to faster sugar absorption and less satiety. When you add milk or honey, the calorie count shoots up quickly. It's best to consult a clinical nutritionist to see if liquid calories align with your fat loss goals.

I am just starting my fitness journey and I find making shakes really convenient in the morning. But does blending them actually make them less healthy than just eating the fruit? I would love to know what others do.

I was looking into this too because I love chikoo and banana shakes. Apparently, because we drink them so fast, we consume way more calories than if we just chewed the fruit. Seems like whole fruits are much safer for keeping the calories low.

My son wanted to lose weight for his sports trials and started drinking big glasses of mango shakes. I noticed his weight didn't budge until we stopped the shakes and started giving him whole apples and papayas. Chewing the fruit definitely keeps them full longer.

I lost 18 kgs last year and the first thing I did was cut out fruit shakes. Liquid calories are a trap because you don't feel full. If you must have one, use water or unsweetened almond milk, skip the honey/sugar, and use low-sugar berries instead.

For anyone with sugar issues, fruit shakes are a strict no. Blending fruits removes the essential fiber, causing an immediate spike in blood glucose. Always stick to eating the whole fruit fresh, and never drink your fruits.

They can be super yummy but they usually have too many hidden calories! 🍓 If you make them at home with just skimmed milk and a bit of papaya, it is okay, but definitely avoid those market ones which are loaded with ice cream and sugar syrup!
