Are crackers better than bread for diabetics?

I'm trying to manage my blood sugar better and limit my bread intake. My neighbour suggested crackers as a better alternative for diabetics. Is this true, are crackers a healthier choice than bread for us?

To be honest, both can spike your sugar if you eat the whole packet while watching a movie. Crackers just sound fancier than regular white bread. Check the ingredients, because some of these 'diet' crackers have as much maida as a loaf of bread!

I track all my macros on HealthifyMe. Most commercial crackers are highly processed and actually have a high glycemic index, similar to white bread. Whole grain or sourdough bread with some protein usually tracks much better, but definitely run it by your doctor.

I used to eat those light bakery crackers thinking they were safe for my borderline diabetes, and my HbA1c shot up to 9. Please don't self-diagnose or make food swaps based on guesses. Go to a good doctor and get a proper diet chart made.

Instead of processed store-bought crackers or bread, I always prefer homemade baked ragi or oats crisps for snack cravings. But if you have fluctuating blood sugar levels, please consult your doctor for a proper medical evaluation.

I was looking this up recently and read that portion control is what matters most. Some unsalted, whole-wheat crackers can be a decent option, but they aren't necessarily 'better' than whole grain bread. Better to ask your diabetologist about what fits your daily limit.

My dad has the same confusion! Actually, many crackers have hidden sugars and fats to make them crispy. Multigrain bread with high fiber is often better than regular crackers, but it's really best to check with a nutritionist who knows your medical history.

I have been diabetic for ten years, and I can tell you that most packaged crackers spike my blood sugar just as fast as white bread. I only trust what my endocrinologist advises. Please consult your specialist before replacing your stable meals with snacks.
