Are bananas good for weight gain?

I've been trying to gain some healthy weight for a while now to build muscle. A friend at the gym told me to include more bananas in my diet. Do they actually help in weight gain?

Bananas can definitely help with weight gain because they are dense in calories. But if you have hormonal issues like PCOS, we have to be very careful because the high sugar can trigger insulin resistance, which complicates our weight. It might be safer to discuss this with your gynecologist before making them a daily habit.

Yes, bananas are highly calorie-dense and rich in carbohydrates, making them a very practical choice for healthy weight gain. However, healthy weight gain depends on your overall daily calorie surplus and metabolic rate. It is always best to consult a registered dietitian to structure a balanced meal plan that suits your body.

My son was very underweight during his school days and his pediatrician suggested giving him a banana milkshake with a spoonful of honey every morning. It slowly helped him put on healthy weight without making him feel bloated. Just make sure they are fully ripe and served with some healthy fats like nuts.

I can only speak from my own journey of gym training. Eating two large bananas daily along with peanut butter toast really helped me break out of my skinny phase and add some good bulk. But everyone's digestion is different, so see what works for your stomach.

Bananas are probably the cheapest and most pocket-friendly way to add healthy calories without buying expensive weight gain powders. Before spending money on costly medical tests for being underweight, try adding 2-3 bananas to your daily diet for a month. It is a very practical, low-cost solution that works for most people.

I am actually trying to gain a bit of muscle and weight because I feel very lean. Should I eat bananas before going to sleep, or is it better to have them in the morning breakfast with milk? If anyone has a good recipe that worked for them, please share.
