Are all black spots on teeth cavities?

I noticed a few small black spots on my teeth recently, and I'm worried about cavities. Does every black spot on a tooth mean it's a cavity, or can they sometimes be just stains? I'm due for a dental check-up soon.

I’ve noticed some dark spots on my teeth too, but I am not entirely sure if they are always cavities. Sometimes it can just be staining from tea or coffee, but it is always safer to let a dentist take a look to prevent any further damage.

Not necessarily! I read on my health tracking app that black spots can be benign tartar buildup or simple surface stains from food. However, to be absolutely sure and maintain good oral hygiene, getting a professional dental scaling and checkup is the best way forward.

Please do not try to diagnose dental issues on your own. While some spots are just deep stains, others can be active decay that needs a filling. Go to a good dental hospital and ask your dentist clearly to take an X-ray to see the tooth condition.

I completely understand the panic when you look in the mirror and spot a dark mark on your tooth, it is very stressful. Try not to worry too much as it might just be a harmless stain. Book a quick dentist appointment to put your mind at ease.

I had a black spot on my lower molar for years, and my dentist told me it was just a superficial arrest cavity that didn't need treatment. However, you can't tell without a probe test. Go get it checked during your next routine six-month dental cleaning.

Sometimes brushing with a little rock salt and mustard oil can help reduce simple yellow or dark food stains. But if the black spot is deep or causing pain when you drink cold water, home tips won't work. Please show it to a dentist soon.
