Would gallstones cause back pain?

My wife has been complaining about upper back pain that comes and goes, and she also had some indigestion issues recently. We were wondering, can gallstones sometimes cause back pain, or is it usually felt more in the abdomen?

Yes, absolutely! Gallstone pain, often called biliary colic, doesn't just stay in your abdomen. It can radiate to your upper back, shoulder blade, or even your right shoulder. It's quite common for people to feel it there. If it's severe, please see a doctor.

Oh yeah, definitely! 😩 My chachi had gallstones and she always complained about terrible pain in her right shoulder and back, especially after eating oily food. So it's not just tummy pain. Get it checked out! 😊

Trust me on this, it's very possible. I had gallstones a few years ago and the worst pain was in my upper right back, not just my stomach. It felt like a deep, dull ache that would sometimes sharpen. Watch what you eat, especially fatty foods, as they can trigger an attack. See a gastroenterologist.

Back pain from gallstones is a real thing, my neighbor had it. For diagnosis, usually an ultrasound is the first step, which is not too expensive. If it points to gallstones, then you can talk to the doctor about next steps. Don't ignore it, serious issues can cost more later.

I've heard of people having back pain because of gallstones, yes. My own aunt experienced something similar where her upper back would hurt a lot. I can only share her experience, but definitely go to a doctor to find out what's causing your pain.

Oh no, really? I've been having this weird upper back pain and some stomach discomfort too, but I never thought they could be connected to gallstones. Did anyone else experience this specific kind of back pain, like a dull ache or sharp jabs?

Yes, it can. Gallstone pain frequently radiates to the back, particularly the upper right side or between the shoulder blades. It's a classic symptom. If you're experiencing this, you need to consult a doctor for proper diagnosis and treatment. Don't self-diagnose based on symptoms alone.
