Will massage help sciatica pain?

I've been dealing with sciatica pain for a few weeks now, and it's really affecting my daily life. My physiotherapist suggested regular massages. Does massage really help with sciatica pain, or is it just temporary relief?

I suffered from sciatica for a while, and gentle massage definitely helped me. It eased the muscle tension around the nerve, which gave some relief. But it wasn't a cure. It needs to be a professional, gentle massage, not hard pressing. Combine it with stretching and core strengthening for better results, as advised by a physio.

I ignored my sciatica initially, thinking massage would fix everything. It gave temporary relief but didn't solve the problem. Please, get a proper diagnosis from a doctor or physiotherapist. Sciatica can be due to many reasons, and massage alone might not be enough, or worse, could aggravate it if not done right. Don't make my mistake, get it checked.

Gentle massage can offer some comfort by relaxing the muscles that might be impinging on the sciatic nerve. However, it should be part of a holistic approach that includes gentle stretching and pranayama for nerve health, all under the guidance of an expert. Aggressive massage is not recommended.

Be very careful with sciatica and massage. My neighbour had it and went for a very hard massage, which actually made it much worse and caused more complications. For such pain, it's best to consult a doctor first, they can tell you what kind of therapy is safe and effective. Don't take chances with your nerves.

Yaar, actually, for sciatica, some specific types of massage, like deep tissue or trigger point therapy, can help release tension. But it has to be done by a trained therapist who understands nerve pain. Just any random massage might not help, or could even make it worse. So, check with a physio first, okay?
