Will cracking fingers cause arthritis?
My parents always scold me for cracking my knuckles and fingers, saying it will give me arthritis when I'm older. Is this an old wives' tale, or will cracking fingers actually cause arthritis?

Oh, I totally get it, this is one of those things everyone's parents told them! My mom used to scold me like anything. But from what I've heard and read, it's mostly a myth. It makes a sound because of gas bubbles in your joint fluid, not because you're damaging them permanently.
Haan yaar, bachpan se sunte aa rahe hain yeh. But scientific research toh kehta hai ki aisa kuch nahi hota. Joint mein jo gas bubbles hote hain, woh burst hote hain, uski awaaz aati hai. Na arthritis hota hai, na kuch aur. Bas logo ko thoda annoying lagta hai sunne mein, haan na?
I crack my knuckles all the time, and then I get super anxious thinking about arthritis later! My grandma always said it's bad. So, is it really true that it *doesn't* cause arthritis? Does anyone else feel like their joints are 'stuck' if they don't crack them?
Ho na, yeh toh sabki aai-baba bolte hain. Lekin doctors toh kehte hain ki isse arthritis nahi hota hai. Bas, awaz aati hai joints mein se. Agar pain ho ya stiffness ho, tab doctor ko dikhao, nahi toh yeh toh normal hai. Bas ek aadat hai.
It's a common misconception. Studies generally show no link between cracking knuckles and arthritis.
