Will caffeine cause kidney stones?

I drink a lot of coffee, especially with my long working hours. My aunt, who had kidney stones, told me I should cut down on caffeine. Can caffeine really lead to kidney stones?

I used to drink a lot of coffee, and honestly, I always wondered if it contributed to my kidney stone a few years ago. My doctor told me caffeine itself isn't a direct cause for most people, but dehydration, which can be linked to excessive caffeine, can increase risk. So it's more about how much water you're drinking. Don't ignore persistent pain, get it checked out.

I totally get why you'd ask this, there's so much conflicting info out there! From what I've understood, caffeine itself isn't a primary cause of kidney stones. In fact, some studies even suggest a moderate intake might slightly lower risk because it increases urine flow. The main thing is staying hydrated, regardless of your coffee intake. So don't worry too much, but do drink enough water.

Oh man, if caffeine caused kidney stones, I'd probably have a whole quarry in there by now! 😂 The amount of coffee I drink just to function... But seriously, no, it's not a primary cause. Dehydration is the real villain. So drink your coffee, but chase it with water. Otherwise, I'm doomed! Just being honest, from one caffeine addict to another.

This is a question I've had too because I love my coffee! From what my dietician told me, caffeine itself isn't the direct cause. It's more about staying well-hydrated. If you drink coffee, just make sure you're balancing it with enough water throughout the day. Dehydration is a bigger risk factor for stones. So don't give up your coffee if you enjoy it, just drink more water too!

Hi there! Good question. Actually, moderate caffeine intake isn't usually linked to causing kidney stones directly. Some research even indicates it might help prevent them due to its diuretic effect. The bigger culprits are often dehydration and high levels of certain minerals in your diet. So, enjoy your chai or coffee in moderation, but don't forget to drink plenty of plain water throughout the day!

Arey, caffeine se kidney stone nahi hota hai seedha. Log bohot zyada paani nahi peete, woh asli masla hai. Agar coffee pi rahe ho, toh uske saath zyada paani bhi piyo. Simple rule hai. Moderate mein sab theek hai, par paani kam kiya toh problem hogi. So no need to ban coffee, just be smart about hydration.
