Will a kidney infection show up on uti test?

I'm having symptoms that feel like a UTI, and I'm worried it might be a kidney infection. If I get a standard UTI test, will it be able to detect if I actually have a kidney infection?

A standard UTI test (urinalysis and urine culture) *will* typically show signs of infection, like bacteria and white blood cells, even if it's a kidney infection. This indicates there's an infection in the urinary tract. However, it won't specifically tell you *where* in the urinary tract the infection is. Your doctor will likely connect these results with your symptoms (like flank pain, fever) to diagnose a kidney infection. Always ask for clear explanations from your doctor.

From what I understand, a UTI test would show that there's an infection in the urinary tract, which includes the kidneys. It'll show bacteria and inflammation markers. But the test itself doesn't pinpoint if it's specifically a kidney infection or a bladder infection. Your symptoms like back pain and fever usually help the doctor figure that out. Always follow up properly.

Yes, a UTI test usually indicates the presence of an infection in the urinary tract, which includes kidney infections. Doctors will then check symptoms.

Oh my god, kidney infections sound so serious and scary! Yes, a UTI test, like a urine culture, will definitely show if there's *an* infection in your urinary system, including bacteria and pus cells. It won't specifically say 'kidney infection' on the report itself, but combined with symptoms like back pain and fever, the doctor will figure it out. Don't panic, but get it checked quickly!

A UTI test is like a general security check for your urinary system. If there's an infection, whether it's throwing a party in your bladder or doing a hostile takeover of your kidneys, the test will usually flag it! It won't say 'kidney party in progress,' but it'll definitely say 'infection detected!' So, yeah, it'll show up, and then your doc can play detective.
