Will a cold shower help a fever?

My younger brother has a really high fever since yesterday. My grandmother is telling us to give him a cold shower. Will a cold shower actually help bring down his fever quickly?

Honestly, a cold shower can be quite shocking to the system when you have a fever, and can even increase your core temperature initially due to shivering. I once tried something similar and felt much worse. It's safer to use lukewarm water or consult a doctor.

While diet is important for recovery, for fever, a cold shower is not a good idea. It can cause your body to try and warm up, making you shiver and potentially raising your temperature. Lukewarm water is much better for comfort and bringing fever down safely.

No, cold showers are not helpful for fever, they can be counterproductive. Stick to lukewarm water for sponging. Get well soon.

Na bhai, cold shower is not good for fever. It can make you shiver and feel even colder. Take a lukewarm bath instead, or just sponge yourself. Better to take proper medicine and rest.

My doctor at Apollo always advises against cold showers for fever. They say it can cause shivering, which actually raises your body temperature more. Use lukewarm water or sponge baths instead. Always confirm with your doctor.
