Why would someone sleep all the time?

My college roommate has started sleeping almost all the time, even missing classes. She says she feels tired constantly. What could make someone want to sleep so much?

Sleeping too much can be a sign that something is off, either physically or mentally. It's good to understand the reason.

If someone is sleeping excessively, it's not normal and definitely needs a medical evaluation. It could be a sleep disorder, an underlying health condition like thyroid issues, depression, or even certain medications. The best course of action is to consult a doctor, explain the full pattern, and get clear answers on what tests might be needed.

Sleeping too much is not a small thing, it indicates the body is not well. Sometimes simple things like good diet and exercise can help normal sleep. But if someone is always sleeping, it could be weakness, or some bigger problem. For this, it is best to go to a doctor and get properly checked, not to ignore it.

Namaskaram. Sleeping too much is certainly not normal and should be looked into. It could be an underlying medical issue, or perhaps severe stress. My mother used to say proper sleep is important but too much is also bad. It is wise to consult a doctor, no? They can check blood tests and suggest what is needed.

Huh, sleeping all the time? That's kinda wild. I mean, I love my sleep, but 'all the time' sounds like something else. I've heard it could be a vitamin deficiency, or sometimes like depression makes people just wanna sleep a lot. Definitely not something to just ignore, I guess.

For instance, with conditions like PCOS, hormonal imbalances can sometimes contribute to fatigue. But it could also be sleep apnea, depression, thyroid issues, or even certain medications. It’s crucial to see a doctor for a proper diagnosis.
