Why is mental health getting worse?

It feels like everyone around me is either anxious, depressed, or just generally stressed out. The news also talks a lot about rising mental health issues. Why is mental health getting worse in society these days?

I feel the constant connectivity and comparison on social media play a big part. Our minds are always stimulated, never truly at rest. Practicing mindfulness and simple pranayama can help calm the system, even for a few minutes a day.

It feels like everyone is stressed, right? I used to panic thinking I was the only one, but then realised it's a widespread issue. It's not necessarily 'getting worse' as much as we're finally talking about it more, which is actually a good step forward.

From my experience, the pressure from work, finances, and just generally keeping up with everything can really take a toll. I don't know the medical reasons, but personally, I've seen more and more people around me feeling overwhelmed.

I think modern life demands a lot from us, and we often neglect our emotional well-being until it's too late. I learned the hard way after ignoring my own struggles. Please, if you're feeling overwhelmed, don't wait for it to get worse. Consult a doctor.

The fast pace of life and constant digital engagement can be very draining. Sometimes, a warm cup of herbal tea or a walk in nature helps me, but if symptoms are severe or persistent, please don't hesitate to see a doctor. Home remedies are not a substitute for professional help.

A lot of people are less active now, glued to screens. Physical activity, like a good walk or some exercise (if your doctor says it's okay), really helps clear my head and reduces stress. Maybe the lack of it is contributing to the problem too.

Because nobody sleeps anymore, that's why! 😅 Kidding, but seriously, the pressure to always be 'on' and the constant notifications are definitely not helping. My brain feels like it's running a marathon even when I'm just sitting.

I think with increased awareness, we're also just talking about it more, which makes it seem like it's 'worse'. Hormonal imbalances, like with PCOS, can definitely impact mood, so that's another factor. It's complicated, and I'd never claim to know all the answers, but support is key.
