Why is it bad to wake up sleep walkers?

My younger brother sometimes sleepwalks, and my grandmother always says never to wake him up suddenly, saying it's very bad. Is there a real reason or is it just an old wives' tale? I worry sometimes.

My doctor always stresses the importance of good, undisturbed sleep for overall health, especially for things like BP. Waking a sleepwalker suddenly can disorient them and make them agitated. Better to gently guide them back to bed. It's safer for everyone.

While I focus more on diet, I've heard that sudden shocks to the system, like waking a sleepwalker abruptly, can be very jarring. It's better to maintain a calm environment for their safety, as they might get confused or even panic.

It's not good, beta, because they are in a deep sleep. Waking them up abruptly can make them very confused, scared, or even angry because they don't know where they are. They might even hurt themselves by accident. Gently guiding them is the safest way to bring them back to bed.

Haha, imagine someone waking you up in the middle of a dream and you're suddenly standing in the kitchen! You'd be so confused, right? Sleepwalkers are even more out of it. They might even try to hit you or something out of fear. So yeah, best to just be chill and lead them back to bed.

I read this on a health app! It said sleepwalkers are in a deep sleep state, and if you wake them suddenly, they can get very confused or even aggressive because they're so disoriented. The best thing is to gently lead them back to bed without startling them. Prioritize safety, both yours and theirs.

My younger brother used to sleepwalk a lot as a child. My parents were always told not to wake him up suddenly. They would just gently guide him back to his bed. He would wake up normal in the morning, totally unaware of anything.
