Why is hematuria common with kidney stones?

My brother just passed a kidney stone, and he said he saw blood in his urine. The doctor mentioned hematuria was common. I'm curious, why is hematuria so often seen with kidney stones? What's the connection there?

Oh, that's a painful one. I've heard many people complain about blood in urine with stones. It makes sense, no? The stones are sharp and scratch the tubes. It's like when you have a small cut, blood comes. For kidney stones, ghar ke nuskhe can help a bit for small ones, but for severe pain or blood, definitely see a doctor.

I get really anxious even thinking about kidney stones, and the idea of blood makes it worse. Does anyone else feel that the discomfort from stones is sometimes really intense? I've heard the pain is excruciating. I hope it resolves quickly for anyone suffering.

Hematuria with kidney stones is due to the stones irritating or damaging the delicate tissues of the urinary tract as they pass. It's a sign of that physical abrasion. Staying hydrated is super important, and light exercise like walking, if your doctor says it's okay, can sometimes help pass smaller stones. But severe pain or blood means a doctor visit ASAP.

It's common because kidney stones are like hard, sharp objects moving through soft urinary passages. They cause irritation and micro-trauma, leading to bleeding. This is a medical condition requiring proper diagnosis. If you have hematuria, please consult a urologist. They can explain the specifics and treatment options clearly.

The sharp edges of the kidney stones can scratch the delicate lining of the ureters or bladder as they move, causing small amounts of blood to appear in the urine. While yoga and pranayama help with overall body function, if you have blood in your urine, it's a clear sign to seek medical attention without delay. Gentle breathwork can help manage pain, but not treat the cause.
