Why is arthritis pain worse at night?

My father has arthritis and he always complains that his pain is much worse at night. Is there a medical reason why arthritis pain tends to get worse when you're trying to sleep?

My wife has arthritis, and she says the same thing. Doctors have told us it could be due to reduced movement during sleep, which makes joints stiff, or maybe lower inflammation levels during the day. It's a complex condition. Regular checkups and listening to the doctor about lifestyle changes are key.

Oh, this is a common complaint for many people with arthritis. My aunt also suffers from this. It is said that when the body rests, the joints can stiffen more, and also the body's natural anti-inflammatory processes might slow down at night. For pain, my family suggests warm compress, but for actual relief, always trust the doctor's advice.

Arthritis pain at night can be tough. During the day, movement helps lubricate joints. At night, with less movement, they can get stiffer and more painful. If your doctor approves, gentle stretching or light exercises like swimming during the day can really help maintain joint mobility and potentially reduce night pain. Don't push too hard though!

Yaar, my grandma always complains about her knees hurting more at night. I think it's because during the day you're moving around, so the joints are kinda 'warmed up'. But at night, everything gets stiff from not moving. Plus, maybe the body's pain perception changes when you're trying to sleep, making it feel worse? Just a guess.

I've heard this too, and it worries me because my mom has arthritis. Is it just the stiffness from not moving, or are there deeper reasons like changes in inflammation levels during sleep? Do others find certain sleeping positions or mattresses help at all?
