Why hepatitis b at birth?

My nephew was born last month, and the doctor gave him a shot for Hepatitis B right at the hospital. My parents were surprised as they said we never got such a vaccine. Can someone explain why babies get Hepatitis B at birth now?

The Hepatitis B vaccine is administered at birth primarily to prevent mother-to-child transmission of the virus. If a mother is a carrier of Hepatitis B, the baby is highly susceptible to infection during delivery. This early vaccination provides immediate, crucial protection against developing chronic Hepatitis B, which can lead to serious liver diseases later in life. It's a standard and highly effective public health measure.

Aiyo, it's like a first line of defense for tiny tummies! If the mom has Hepatitis B, the baby can catch it during birth. So, the vaccine at birth gives them immediate protection. It's super important, much like how a good, healthy first meal is important for life!

Yes, my dear, this vaccine at birth is very important. In my time, we didn't have all these vaccines, and many children suffered. Now, doctors give it right away so the baby is protected from serious illness if the mother has the infection. It gives good protection for their whole life, so don't worry, it is a good thing.

It's critical for public health. Babies are most vulnerable to Hepatitis B infection from their mothers during childbirth. Giving the vaccine within 24 hours of birth provides crucial immediate protection, preventing chronic infection and potential liver damage in the future. It's a time-sensitive intervention with long-term benefits.

I actually saw this on a health awareness campaign through my wellness app! It's because babies can easily get Hepatitis B from their mom during birth. The vaccine right after birth gives them like, immediate shield. It's super effective in preventing lifelong infection, which is awesome for their future health data!
