Why fever at night is higher?

Whenever my kids get a fever, it's always mild during the day, but then shoots up quite high at night. My mother-in-law says this is normal, but I always get worried. Is there a reason why fever tends to be higher at night?

Oh, I totally get why this worries you! I always feel like my fever spikes at night too, and it makes me so anxious. I think it's because our immune system becomes more active then, and also when we're resting, we notice it more. But please monitor it.

Don't just believe anything you read online about this. There are theories about circadian rhythms affecting body temperature and immune response, but for a fever that keeps getting high at night, you need to see a doctor. Get a proper diagnosis, don't self-diagnose.

I've heard this too and it can be quite uncomfortable. Our bodies have a natural rhythm, and some theories suggest immune activity peaks at night. But if the fever is really high or lasts long, it's always safer to consult a doctor. Don't take chances, especially with body temp.

Yes, many people experience this. It's often due to our body's natural circadian rhythm. Your body temp naturally rises slightly in the evening. Plus, your immune system is more active at night. If it's a persistent problem, maybe check with a doctor before it becomes a bigger issue needing expensive tests.

Haan bhai, this is the story of my life! The body decides to wage its war against germs exactly when you want to sleep. Maybe it's because during the day you're moving around, so you don't feel it as much. At night, lying still, every little discomfort feels amplified. Anyway, take a paracetamol and rest.

I totally get it, high fever at night is so draining. I've tried everything – cold compresses, lukewarm baths. What helps me sometimes is just taking a mild fever reducer before bed and making sure the room is cool. But if it's very high or not coming down, please see a doctor. Home remedies only go so far.
