Why does someone sleep so much?
My son has started sleeping a lot more than usual, sometimes for 10-12 hours and still seems tired. He's usually quite active. Why would someone suddenly start sleeping so much?

Lucky them! I wish I could sleep so much! Honestly, it could be anything from just being genuinely exhausted, to stress, depression, or even underlying health issues like thyroid problems or sleep apnea. Or maybe they just hit the sleep lottery, I don't know, I'm too tired to figure it out.
Could be so many reasons! From just needing more rest because they're super tired, to stress, or maybe even a cold coming on. Sometimes it's just how their body works! But if it's all the time and they feel constantly tired, maybe a little check-up is in order! 😴😊
Excessive sleep can sometimes be a sign of insufficient quality sleep or an underlying health issue. While rest is crucial, too much sleep can also leave you groggy. Regular exercise, even just a brisk walk, and a consistent sleep schedule can often regulate energy levels and improve sleep quality, so you feel rested with appropriate hours.
Sleeping too much can be a sign that something's off. It could be poor sleep quality, stress, or even medical conditions like thyroid issues, diabetes, or even affecting blood pressure. It's always best to encourage them to get a general check-up, including blood tests and perhaps a BP check. Good lifestyle choices help balance sleep.
Been there, felt that! For some, it's just being naturally a 'long sleeper.' But often, it's hidden exhaustion or things like poor diet, too much screen time before bed, or even stress. I've tried chamomile tea and warm milk before bed, which helps, but if it's very excessive, a doctor should check for things like anemia or thyroid.
Excessive sleep, or hypersomnia, can stem from various causes. It might be due to sleep disorders like sleep apnea, narcolepsy, or even poor sleep hygiene. Other factors include depression, certain medications, chronic illnesses, or deficiencies. It's important to rule out medical conditions, so a doctor's consultation would be advisable.

Yaar, sometimes people just need more sleep, that's their body's way. Or it could be stress, or even just feeling a bit under the weather. But if it's consistently a lot and they're still tired, it's good to get a general check-up to rule out anything serious like thyroid or vitamin deficiencies. Don't stress too much, but gentle nudge to see a doc if it's bothering them.
I totally get why you'd ask this. It's often not just laziness. It could be their body fighting off an infection, dealing with a lot of stress, or maybe they just have a naturally higher sleep need. Sometimes, it's a sign of depression or an underlying medical issue, so it's always good to check in with them gently.
