Why does it hurt to sleep on my stomach?

I've started getting lower back pain if I sleep on my stomach. I used to be able to do it fine, but now it hurts every time. Why does it hurt to sleep on my stomach all of a sudden?

Oh, I totally get this! I used to sleep on my stomach too and developed terrible neck and back pain. I tried different pillows, hot compresses, even some yoga stretches before bed. Ultimately, I had to train myself to sleep on my side. It was hard, but it helped a lot with the pain.

Is this a common thing? Sometimes I wake up with a stiff neck after sleeping on my stomach for a bit, and it makes me wonder if I'm doing some permanent damage. Does anyone else get this discomfort? It's like my whole upper body feels off.

Pain while sleeping can be tricky, because if it continues, you might need a physio or ortho. And those consultations and X-rays can get expensive, yaar. Best to try changing your sleeping position first, maybe invest in a good pillow. Prevention is always cheaper than cure.

Dude, same! I used to always sleep on my stomach, but then my back started legit hurting every morning. Now I try to sleep on my side with a pillow between my knees, and it helps a lot. Stomach sleeping really messes up your spine alignment, apparently. Def try changing it.

Yeah, stomach sleeping is generally not recommended by docs. It can really strain your neck and spine over time.
