Why does eczema itch at night?

My eczema is always worse at night; the itching becomes almost unbearable. It makes it so hard to sleep properly. What is it about nighttime that makes eczema itch so much more?

This is a common issue with many conditions, not just diabetes, but often symptoms feel worse at night. With eczema, your body's cortisol levels, which reduce inflammation, are naturally lower at night. Plus, the warmth of the bed and lack of distractions can make the itch more noticeable. Proper skin care and medication are key.

Eczema is just a nocturnal creature, I guess! It knows you're trying to sleep, so it decides that's the perfect time to party on your skin. Seriously though, it's probably because you're less distracted and your body temperature changes. Annoying, right?

Oh, the night itch is the worst! I've tried everything – cold compresses, oatmeal baths before bed, cotton pyjamas. It's because your skin loses more moisture at night, and also, your body's anti-inflammatory hormones are lower. It's really frustrating, but try to keep your room cool and use a good moisturizer right before sleeping.

Please don't ignore this. I used to think my night itching was normal and just scratched it away. But it kept getting worse and affected my sleep so much. It's often due to reduced anti-inflammatory hormones at night and increased skin dryness. Go see a doctor and get it treated properly before it escalates, like mine did.

I used my sleep tracker to see how much my eczema was affecting my sleep, and it was a lot! The night itch is real because your body's natural anti-inflammatory responses are lower then, and your skin loses more moisture. Plus, when you're less distracted, the itch becomes more prominent. Tracking triggers and treatment effectiveness helps a lot.

Night itching is a common complaint with eczema. It's due to natural body rhythms where anti-inflammatory chemicals decrease at night. Plus, warmth from bedding can make it worse. Invest in good quality, breathable cotton sheets, and a proper dermatologist visit might save you money on ineffective remedies in the long run.
