Why does dandruff itch so much?

I've been dealing with dandruff for ages, and it's so annoying how much it itches! Sometimes I feel like scratching my head off. What exactly causes that intense itching sensation with dandruff?

Honestly, I feel like my scalp is on fire sometimes. Does anyone else get it so bad that it feels like actual burning? I keep thinking I'm doing something wrong.

Yaar, it's probably just dryness and those tiny flakes irritating your scalp. My friend uses some anti-dandruff shampoo regularly, says it helps a lot. Main bhi try kiya tha, thoda relief mila.

Be careful with that itching, friend. I ignored mine for too long and ended up with some nasty scalp infections. Best to get it checked by a dermatologist if it's really persistent or painful. Don't take chances.

It's typically due to a yeast-like fungus called Malassezia which thrives on scalp oils, causing irritation and flaking. The itching is basically your body reacting to that inflammation. A good medicated shampoo usually sorts it out.

Same here! It's super annoying. Maybe try rinsing your hair with cold water at the end of your shower, it can calm the itch a bit.

I totally get why you're asking this. That constant itch can make you feel so self-conscious and just generally uncomfortable. It's not just in your head, it really does feel awful!
