Why does arthritis hurt more when it rains?

My dad has chronic knee pain due to arthritis, and he always complains that the pain gets much worse when it rains or the weather changes. Is there a real reason why arthritis pain increases with rain?

Don't worry too much about it, it's actually quite normal. My mom used to complain about it a lot, and I used to panic thinking something serious was happening. But doctors say it's linked to changes in atmospheric pressure. So the joints feel more achy. Just try to keep warm and rest.

I've heard about this phenomenon so many times! It's super common. I think it has something to do with the change in barometric pressure when the weather changes. Like, lower pressure can make tissues expand a little and press on nerves, right? I read that somewhere.

Ugh, even my joints get sad when it rains! Makes me just want to curl up with a hot cup of chai and some pakoras, forget about the pain. Maybe the rain just brings a gloomy mood, and that makes us notice the aches more, no? Or maybe the craving for comfort food makes me ignore the pain, hehe.

Yes, it's a known phenomenon. I believe it's partly due to barometric pressure changes, which can cause tissues to expand and put pressure on nerves. Also, often with rain comes cold, and cold can increase joint stiffness. Eating anti-inflammatory foods like turmeric and ginger might help to manage the pain generally.

Oh, this happens? I didn't know weather could affect pain so much. So it's not just a coincidence? What exactly changes in the body when it rains that causes this? Is there anything that can help reduce it?

Haan na, this is so true! My father also says his pain gets worse when it's cloudy or rainy. Everyone says it's because of the pressure change in the air. Like, when pressure drops, it affects the joint fluid, making it hurt more. It's a common complaint, ho na?

It's largely attributed to changes in atmospheric pressure, which can affect the joints and surrounding tissues. While it's a common observation, understanding the exact mechanism is still being researched. For effective management of arthritis, regular consultation with a rheumatologist is crucial, they can provide the best guidance.
