Why do teenagers sleep late?
My parents are always nagging me to sleep early, but all my friends stay up late. It feels like all teenagers sleep late these days. Is there a reason why we tend to have late bedtimes?

Oh, my son used to do this and I was so worried he was unwell! Turns out, it's just how their bodies work at that age. Their internal clocks shift, making them naturally feel sleepy later and want to wake up later. It's totally normal for teenagers, so don't panic like I did!
Honestly, don't stress too much about it. It's basically science! Their bodies have a natural shift in their sleep cycle, called a 'sleep phase delay.' So they genuinely feel sleepy later at night and need to sleep in to get enough rest. Plus, homework, phone, friends... it all adds up, yaar!
While it's common for teenagers to have a shifted sleep schedule, if they are constantly exhausted, irritable, or if their grades are suffering, it's worth a quick chat with their doctor. Sometimes other issues can affect sleep. Always better to be safe and rule out anything serious.
As someone managing diabetes, I know how vital good sleep is for health. Teenagers naturally have a biological shift in their circadian rhythm, meaning they feel alert later. However, excessive screen time and late-night eating can also disrupt this. It's a balance of natural changes and lifestyle habits.
Bhai/Behan, it's two things. First, their body clock changes, so they naturally feel like sleeping later. Second, their phones! Full night social media and games. Both things make them sleep late. We have to understand the body changes but also control screen time a bit.

Oh, my son lives by the motto 'Early to bed, early to rise makes a man... miss out on all the fun!' Haha. But honestly, it's a mix of their hormones shifting their sleep cycle and, let's be real, their phones being surgically attached to their hands till 2 AM. I just wish I had their energy sometimes!
