Why do stop breathing while i sleep?

My wife has complained a few times that I stop breathing for a few seconds while I'm sleeping. It's a bit scary to hear. What could be causing this, and is it serious?

Hey, hearing that you stop breathing in your sleep sounds really scary. This isn't something to take lightly or try to fix at home. It could be something like sleep apnea, which needs proper medical attention. Please, for your own safety, go see a doctor soon.

Dude, that sounds serious. My uncle had something similar, turns out it was sleep apnea. He had to get a sleep study done and now uses a CPAP machine. You should definitely get it checked out by a doc, don't wait.

Listen, anything to do with breathing, especially while you sleep, is a big red flag. It's not normal. Please, please get yourself to a specialist or even your family doctor right away. Don't ignore this, it can be dangerous.

I've read about this before, it's often called sleep apnea. It sounds really serious. My friend's dad snores really loudly and sometimes stops breathing, so they're getting him checked. You should look into getting a sleep study, it might give you answers.

Haha, are you trying to break a world record for holding your breath in your sleep? Just kidding! But seriously, this isn't normal. Don't turn into a real-life sleeping beauty and stop breathing. Go see a doc, my friend, before you give yourself a fright.

Bhai/Behan, this is not a small thing. If you're stopping breathing, you need to go to a doctor, simple. Don't ask online, go to a clinic. They'll tell you what the issue is and what to do.

My husband used to do this, and we didn't know what it was for a long time. It was very worrying. It turned out to be sleep apnea. Once he got diagnosed and started treatment, his health improved so much. So please, get it checked by a good doctor. Don't be scared, just get help.

Some smartwatches or sleep trackers can actually detect breathing irregularities during sleep, but they're not diagnostic. If you're consciously aware you're stopping breathing, that's a medical emergency. You need to see a sleep specialist for proper diagnosis and treatment, like a sleep study.
