Why do people get liver spots?

My mother, who is in her late 60s, has started noticing some dark spots on her hands and face. She calls them 'liver spots.' I was wondering why people get these liver spots as they get older.

I used to get so self-conscious about these spots on my hands as I got older. I thought something was wrong with my internal organs, which made me quite anxious. Learning they are just sun damage and age-related actually brought me some relief, but I still try to cover up.

Girl, don't stress too much about them! Those 'liver spots' are actually sun spots, or age spots. They just appear on skin exposed to the sun over the years. Not related to your liver at all! Just try to use sunscreen regularly. 😊

Good question! Many people confuse these. They are not actually from the liver. These dark spots are called 'age spots' or 'sun spots' (lentigines). They appear due to prolonged sun exposure over years, and become more noticeable as we age. Using good sunscreen consistently can help prevent new ones.

These are typically just age spots or sun spots, not related to the liver. But on a separate note, maintaining overall good health, including liver health, is crucial for everyone. Regular checkups and a balanced lifestyle are important for everything from your skin to your internal organs.

Oh, 'liver spots' are a bit of a misnomer, they're actually sun spots or age spots caused by years of sun exposure. You can try natural remedies like aloe vera or lemon juice for mild lightening, but for really prominent ones, or if they change in any way, please see a dermatologist to be on the safe side.

These spots are often called 'liver spots' but are actually a sign of sun exposure and aging on the skin. While they are usually harmless, good skin health is part of overall well-being. Practices like pranayama can improve circulation, benefiting skin, but for existing spots, sun protection is key.

Liver spots, medically known as solar lentigines, are essentially areas of hyperpigmentation on the skin caused by prolonged exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun. They are benign and unrelated to liver function. However, any suspicious changes in skin lesions should always be evaluated by a dermatologist to rule out malignancy.
