Why do infants cry in their sleep?

My baby, just 3 months old, cries quite often in her sleep. It's not like she's fully awake, just making whimpering sounds and sometimes proper crying. Is this normal or something I should worry about?

Pediatricians explain that infants often cry in their sleep due to normal sleep cycles, hunger, discomfort from gas, or even just processing their day. It's part of their sleep architecture. Unless it's accompanied by fever or extreme distress, it's usually just a phase.

It's very common for infants to cry in their sleep, don't worry too much. They're just learning to regulate their sleep patterns, and sometimes they stir or vocalize. As long as they settle back down, it's usually fine.

Because they're babies and they want to keep us on our toes, even in our sleep! 😂 Seriously though, probably just gas or a quick dream. They'll grow out of it, hopefully before we all turn into zombies!

Infants often cry in their sleep as a part of their developmental process or due to mild discomforts like hunger or a wet diaper. It's typically part of their sleep cycles. However, if the crying is inconsolable or accompanied by other concerning symptoms, consulting a pediatrician is always advisable.
