Why do i sleep with my arms above my head?

My wife often tells me that I sleep with my arms raised above my head. I find it comfortable, but sometimes my shoulders ache a bit in the morning. Is this a normal sleeping posture or could it be causing problems?

My doctor once mentioned that sleeping with arms above the head, also called 'starfishing,' can actually stretch your shoulders and open up your chest, which some people find comfortable. However, if it causes numbness, tingling, or shoulder pain, it could be putting pressure on nerves or circulation. Pay attention to how you feel when you wake up.

Haha, maybe your arms are just reaching for the stars even in your sleep! ✨ It's a pretty common position, often just a comfort thing. As long as you're not waking up with numb arms, you're probably just a unique sleeper! 😉

Arms above the head, eh? Maybe you're trying to fly in your dreams! Jokes aside, it's a common sleeping position. If you wake up without pain or numbness, it's probably just your body finding its comfy spot. But if you're getting pins and needles, then maybe your circulation is not liking it.

Sleeping with your arms up can feel relaxing for some as it can relieve pressure on your lower back, or it might just be a habit. However, over time, it can sometimes strain your shoulders or cause nerve compression leading to numbness. Try putting a pillow under each arm to reduce the strain if you can't break the habit.

While it might feel comfortable, persistently sleeping with your arms above your head can sometimes lead to shoulder pain, nerve issues, or even affect circulation. If you're waking up with discomfort, numbness, or tingling, it's best to consult a doctor or a physiotherapist to ensure there's no underlying problem.

It's interesting how our bodies find comfort. If you're a fitness person, sometimes stretching can feel good even in sleep. But be mindful if it's causing shoulder impingement or wrist issues. Light shoulder mobility exercises during the day might help if you're stiff, but ensure it's not causing pain at night.

Oh, I do this sometimes too, and it always makes me wonder if it's a bad thing for my shoulders or something! Does anyone else wake up with slightly numb arms when they sleep like this? Makes me a bit anxious about my circulation. 😟
