Why do i bite my tongue while i sleep?

This has been happening to me quite often lately, waking up with a sore tongue. Sometimes, it even bleeds a little. My husband noticed it too, he says I make a biting sound in my sleep. Is this something serious or normal?

Biting the tongue, hmm, this can happen if you are very restless in your sleep. Sometimes if the stomach is upset, or you have too much 'garam' food. Try to eat light at night, and maybe a little warm milk before bed for peaceful sleep. But if it's very often, ask the doctor.

I have thyroid issues, and I know how imbalances can affect sleep and body movements. It's always good to get your routine blood tests done, including thyroid. Sometimes, hormonal shifts can cause muscle spasms or restlessness. Keep your doctor informed about any new symptoms.

Haha, sounds like you're having some wild dreams! 😂 But on a serious note, sometimes it can happen if you grind your teeth or clench your jaw a lot at night. Maybe try to relax your jaw before sleeping. If it's painful or frequent, a doc can help! 👍

Please don't ignore this. I had a friend who kept biting her tongue and it turned out to be related to her sleep apnea, which was much more serious. It's always best to get it checked by a doctor, especially if it's recurring or causing you pain. Don't take chances with your health.

I've been looking into sleep issues too! Apparently, tongue biting can sometimes be a sign of a neurological issue or even seizures in sleep, though those are rare. More commonly, it's just related to jaw clenching or poor sleep posture. It's really interesting how much our bodies do unconsciously.

If you bite your tongue, maybe you are very tired or very stressed. Sometimes people talk in their sleep, or maybe move too much. Try to do some shanti-shanti before sleeping, like reading a book, not phone. If it hurts a lot, please show to doctor.
