Why do babies laugh in their sleep?

My 3-month-old sometimes smiles and even laughs in his sleep. It's so cute, but it also makes me wonder what he's dreaming about. Is there a reason babies do this?

Because they're dreaming about getting extra milk or plotting world domination, one giggle at a time! *laughs* Seriously though, it's probably just a nice dream or a sign of brain development. It's adorable, right?

It's such a lovely sound, isn't it? It can actually reduce any anxiety you might have about their sleep. It's a sweet little reminder that they're probably having a pleasant dream, making you feel happy too. Don't worry, it's a normal and beautiful thing.

Just as a good workout gives us endorphins and happy feelings, babies' brains are very active during sleep, processing the day. Those giggles are likely a result of pleasant dreams. It shows their brains are actively developing and they're having positive experiences.

Lucky them, dreaming about rainbows and unicorns! I just dream about finding five minutes to myself. *sigh* But yeah, it's cute when they do it. Probably means they're having the best dream ever.
