Why did my eye swell up in my sleep?

I woke up this morning and one of my eyelids was quite swollen. There's no pain or itching, and it wasn't like this when I went to sleep. What could cause an eye to swell up overnight like this without any other symptoms?

Oh no, sounds like your eye had a party without you! 😂 Could be anything from some allergic reaction to something you ate or touched. Did you have any spicy food late last night? Sometimes that can also make you puffy. Hope it settles down quickly!

Girl, same happened to me once! My eye was all puffy. For me, it was just a tiny bug bite I didn't even feel, or maybe I slept on something dirty. Try putting a cold compress on it. If it doesn't go down or starts paining, then maybe see a doctor for sure.

That's so weird! I'd probably be Googling like crazy if that happened to me. I've read it can be a reaction to a new makeup product, or even just sleeping on your face funny, or sometimes a tiny insect bite. What did you use on your face yesterday?

Arrey beti, aise aankh sujna toh kabhi kabhi ho jaata hai. Ho sakta hai makkhi-macchar kaat gaya ho raat mein. Thode thande paani se dhona, aur thodi der band karke aaram karna. Agar dard ho ya laal ho jaaye zyada, toh vaidya ji ko dikha dena.

Consult a ophthalmologist

Could be an allergy, or sometimes general inflammation if your immune system is a bit down. Make sure you're hydrated and getting enough sleep. If you're working out, check your towels for cleanliness. If it persists, see an ophthalmologist. Eyes are not something to mess with.

Beta, don't worry too much, this can happen sometimes. In my time, we used to say maybe you slept too much or some small thing entered your eye. A simple cold water wash or a clean cloth compress usually helps. If it persists or pains, then you must show it to a doctor.

I had a swollen eye once and it turned out to be a minor allergy from a new pillowcase. But I'm just sharing my experience, not giving advice. Eyes are delicate, so if it's bad or doesn't improve, it's always better to get it checked by a doctor.

Most likely an allergy to something in your environment or a small insect bite. Check your pillowcase and bed sheets if they are clean. You can put a cold compress to bring down the swelling. If it doesn't reduce in a day or two, or if there's pain, then definitely visit a doctor.

Arey, ho na? Kabhi kabhi aise ho jaata hai. Maybe koi small insect cut liya ho, ya phir you rubbed your eyes too much. Sometimes even some dust from the bed can do this. Thoda thanda sek lagao, usually it helps. Par haan, agar pain ho toh doctor ko dikhao.

That feeling of waking up to a swollen eye can be really upsetting, especially if you don't know why. I remember feeling so self-conscious. It could be allergies, or a sty, or even just some irritation. Try to gently clean it and see if it goes down. If it pains or doesn't improve, please get it checked.
