Why can you only take 2 advil migraine?

When I get a migraine, I usually take Advil Migraine, but the packaging always says not to take more than two pills in 24 hours. Why is there such a strict limit for this medicine?

For severe headaches like migraine, I find applying a cold compress or drinking strong ginger tea sometimes helps. But if you're asking about Advil specifically, it's because all medicines have a recommended dosage. Taking too much can cause other problems. If 2 isn't enough, please see a doctor for proper diagnosis and treatment.

This is very important. I once took more than recommended for a severe pain, thinking it would work faster, and ended up with stomach issues. Medicines like Advil can be hard on your stomach and kidneys if overdosed. Migraines are serious, so don't self-medicate beyond the recommended dose; see a doctor for a proper migraine plan.

Oh, so it's not like the more you take, the better it works? I thought if the pain was very bad, maybe a little extra would help. What kind of problems can happen if you take too much?

My dear, medicines are powerful and meant to be taken exactly as prescribed. It is for your own good. Be mindful of your body and take care. Sometimes stress also triggers migraines, so try to keep calm.

Haan beta, these medicines are strong. They are made with certain limits for a reason. Listen to what the packet says or what the doctor tells you. Back in our days, we used simpler remedies, but for real pain, we went to the doctor. Don't experiment with your body.

I can only speak from my experience, but my doctor always emphasized sticking to the prescribed dose for any medicine. He explained that there's a therapeutic range, and going beyond it doesn't necessarily help more and can cause side effects. So I just follow what my doc says.

Please, never ignore dosage instructions. I once ignored a persistent headache, thinking it was just stress, and later found out it was something else that needed proper medical attention. Overdosing on painkillers can mask serious issues or cause new ones. Get it checked out by a doctor if your migraines are that severe.
