Why are nausea and vomiting a contraindication to cpap?

My father uses a CPAP machine for his sleep apnea. He had a stomach bug with a lot of nausea and vomiting last week. The doctor told him not to use CPAP then. Why is nausea and vomiting a problem with CPAP?

Oh god, CPAP is already a contraption, adding nausea to it? That sounds like a recipe for disaster. Imagine throwing up *into* your mask. Haha! But seriously, if you're feeling sick, that's definitely a 'stop everything and talk to your doctor' moment. No fun that way.

I've heard CPAP is great for sleep apnea, but if you're feeling nauseous or vomiting, it makes sense that you can't use it. Imagine trying to use a mask then! You absolutely need to address the nausea/vomiting first with a doctor. Don't try to power through it with CPAP.

Haan, agar ulti aa rahi hai ya pet kharab hai, toh CPAP kaise use karoge? Khana peena ka masla hoga shayad, which makes you sick. Pehle pet theek karo, then think about other treatments. Doc ko dikhao if it's ongoing.

Yes, my doctor at Max Hospital explained this clearly. If you have nausea or are vomiting, using CPAP could lead to serious complications like aspirating the vomit into your lungs. They always stress to stop CPAP use immediately and contact them if you experience such symptoms. It's for your safety.

It's for safety, honestly. If you're feeling nauseous or could vomit, using a CPAP machine would be really dangerous because of the risk of aspiration (inhaling vomit into your lungs). Your doctor would definitely advise against it until those symptoms resolve. It's a proper medical reason, not just discomfort.

Dude, if you're nauseous or puking, wearing a mask on your face sounds like a nightmare. You could choke or make a huge mess, which is a major safety hazard. So yeah, definitely sort out the puking first with a doc before thinking about CPAP.

This isn't something you want to mess around with or try to self-diagnose. Nausea and vomiting with CPAP could be quite serious. Always, always verify contraindications and any health concerns directly with your prescribing doctor or a specialist. Don't look for quick fixes online.
