Why are fever dreams so weird?

Last night I had a fever, and my dreams were just bizarre, completely unlike my normal dreams. My friends also say they experience really weird dreams when they have a fever. What makes fever dreams so strange and vivid?

Oh god, fever dreams! My brain feels like it's running a marathon on triple speed. Once I dreamt my curtains were attacking me. I think it's just our brains getting super confused with the high temperature. Stay hydrated and sleep it off, eventually they go away.

Fever dreams are definitely bizarre. It's mainly because your brain is overheating, literally, and struggling to regulate sleep cycles. Just try to keep hydrated and rest as much as possible. They pass once the fever breaks.

It's because your body is working so hard to fight the infection. The high temperature can affect your brain's normal processes during sleep. Just know it's a common experience, and it will stop once you feel better. Take care.

Dude, I just recovered from a bad fever and the dreams were wild! I was seeing walls melting and shapes changing. My friend said it's cause your brain is kinda cooking inside with the heat. It was so real at the time, but now I can laugh about it. Just gotta ride it out.

Oh my god, I get them too and they freak me out so much! I always think something is wrong. I read somewhere it's because your brain isn't cooling properly and it messes with your REM sleep. It's just a fever thing though, try to focus on getting better.

They can be really unsettling, I know. When you have a fever, your body temperature is elevated, and this interferes with your normal sleep cycles and brain activity. It's essentially your brain trying to make sense of the internal chaos. Don't worry, it's temporary and usually goes away when the fever subsides.
