Why am i thirsty all the time but not diabetic?

I'm always feeling thirsty, no matter how much water I drink, but my recent blood tests showed I'm not diabetic. My mouth always feels dry. My mother has thyroid issues, could it be related to something like that?

I also feel very thirsty often. It's good you ruled out diabetes, but it's still puzzling.

Hmm, that's interesting. I read somewhere that even if it's not diabetes, issues with kidney function, or certain medications can cause excessive thirst. Or maybe just being a bit dehydrated even if you think you're drinking enough? I'd keep an eye on it.

Are you eating very spicy food often, or a lot of processed items with high sodium? Even excess caffeine can be dehydrating. As a vegetarian, I ensure I get enough water from fresh fruits and vegetables too, not just plain water. It helps balance things out without adding too much sugar.

I can't give medical advice, but in my experience, sometimes I'm just not drinking enough water consistently throughout the day, so I feel super thirsty later. Also, highly salty food makes me very thirsty. Maybe look at your diet?

I totally freaked out about this once, thinking it must be diabetes even though my tests were clear! But then my doctor said sometimes it's just mild dehydration that builds up, or certain medications (even common ones) can have this side effect. It eventually settled for me when I consciously increased water intake and reduced salty snacks.

Beti, sometimes in this heat, our body just needs more water. Don't worry too much. Make sure you are drinking enough water, especially if you are out in the sun. And eat some juicy fruits like watermelon or cucumber. If still worried, ask the local doctor, they know about these things.

My daughter used to drink water constantly. Turns out she was drinking enough, but not getting enough electrolytes from her diet. We added some coconut water and fresh fruit juices (without added sugar), and it helped her body retain the hydration better. Maybe check your electrolyte balance?
