Who to call when worried about someone's mental health?

My neighbour has been acting very strangely lately, withdrawing from everyone and looking quite distressed. I'm really worried about her mental well-being. Who should I contact if I'm concerned about someone else's mental health?

If I'm worried about a friend, I usually try to talk to them first, haan. If it seems serious, then I'd look up national mental health helplines. They can give proper advice on what to do. Sometimes reaching out to their family is also an option if you're close enough.

For serious concerns, the most efficient approach is to reach out to a professional mental health helpline or consult with a psychologist/psychiatrist yourself for guidance. They can provide structured advice on how to approach the person and what steps to take, without wasting crucial time trying to figure it out alone.

It's important to approach this delicately. Firstly, try to speak to the person yourself, if safe and appropriate. If concerns persist, consulting a mental health professional (like a psychologist or psychiatrist) for advice on how to help them is crucial. They can guide you best, as every situation is unique.

Don't fall for any internet 'guides' on how to deal with someone's mental health. This is a very serious matter. You need to call a certified mental health professional or a crisis helpline. They have the training and knowledge to advise you correctly. Always verify their credentials.

I once worried about my friend, and I just called a close common friend of ours first. We then decided to gently talk to her together. For more severe cases, I think national mental health helplines would be the right contact. I wouldn't feel confident giving direct advice beyond that.

It's a delicate situation. Instead of giving them diet advice or anything, which might not be appropriate then, you should definitely contact a professional mental health expert or a crisis helpline. They can guide you on the right way to support them and what steps to take. It's too serious to handle alone.

It is good that you are noticing and caring. When worried, gently try to talk to the person, offering a listening ear. If it feels beyond your comfort or skill, seek guidance from a mental health professional or a compassionate helpline. Sometimes, just being present is a lot.

When someone's mental health is a concern, directly call a professional. Look for mental health helplines in your city or national ones. They are equipped to handle these situations. Also, if you know a trusted therapist, call their clinic. Don't delay, timely help matters a lot.
