Which person is an appropriate source of professional mental health?

I've been feeling very stressed lately and my friends suggested I talk to someone professional. There are so many options like therapists, counsellors, psychiatrists, and psychologists. Who is the right person to approach for mental health support?

Haan ji, for mental health, you should talk to a proper psychiatrist or a licensed psychologist. Na ki kisi random baba ya life coach. Woh log train hote hain toh they know best what to do. Family doctor can also refer u if u ask. Don't hesitate to seek help.

Definitely a qualified professional like a psychiatrist or a psychologist! 🧠 They have the right training and expertise. Don't rely on advice from unqualified people, no matter how well-meaning they are. Your mental health is super important! ✨

Not your chacha-ji's friend who 'knows a lot about life'! 😂 Seriously though, you want a licensed psychiatrist for medication or a clinical psychologist for therapy. They're like mental health superheroes with degrees and everything. Save yourself from well-intentioned but clueless advice!

I always get so confused with all the titles – psychologist, counsellor, therapist. Which one should I even go to first if I'm just feeling a bit down? Does anyone else get overwhelmed by choosing? I just want someone who can actually help and listen.

Always, always consult a licensed and registered mental health professional. This means a psychiatrist, a clinical psychologist, or a certified counselor. Do not take advice from unqualified people or random sources online. Your mental well-being is too important to risk.

Initially, I thought I could just 'think positive' or do some home remedies for my anxiety, but it didn't help long term. I learned that for professional mental health, you need a trained person. A psychiatrist if you need medication, or a psychologist/counselor for talking therapy. It's okay to ask for help, it's very practical.

Just like with my thyroid, where I need to see a specialist and get regular tests, for mental health too, a qualified professional is essential. Don't self-diagnose or listen to untrained advice. A psychiatrist or a psychologist who understands your specific needs and can follow up is crucial for proper care.
