Which arm is affected by heart attack?

My father has a history of heart issues, so I'm always on the lookout for symptoms. I know arm pain is a sign, but I want to know which arm is usually affected by a heart attack.

My grandmother always said it's the left arm pain that's dangerous. But my cousin's husband had a mild one, and he said his upper back and jaw were hurting more than his arm. It's always best to consult a good doctor for any such concerns, don't self-diagnose. Our elders have wisdom, but doctors have the medical knowledge.

I ignored a constant dull ache in my left arm for weeks, thinking it was just a strain from the gym. Then one day, I felt extreme breathlessness and tightness in my chest. Turns out, it was a major red flag. Please, please, if you have ANY suspicious symptoms, get it checked by a doctor. Don't be foolish like me.

Haha, for me, both arms hurt after a heavy gym session, but that's a different kind of heart attack, mere bhai! On a serious note, if it's the real deal, usually it's the left arm. But if you feel like an elephant is sitting on your chest, don't wait to check which arm is hurting, just call for help!

It's natural to feel anxious when you hear about these symptoms. I used to worry about every little ache. From what I've learned, it's most often the left arm, but it can also be other areas like the back, jaw, or stomach. The key is if it's new, severe, or accompanied by chest pain and shortness of breath, please get it checked out by a doc.

I totally get why you're asking this, it's good to be aware. While the left arm is commonly talked about, sometimes the pain can radiate to the right arm, or even feel like general discomfort in the shoulder or jaw. The body is complex, so any new, persistent pain in that area should be evaluated.
