Where is your liver on your back?

My father has been complaining about a dull ache in his upper back for a few days now, kind of on the right side. We're worried it might be related to his liver, as he has a history of some liver issues. I was wondering, can the liver pain be felt in the back?

Your liver is not on your back. It is situated in the upper right quadrant of your abdomen, beneath the diaphragm and protected by your rib cage. Any back pain is unlikely to be directly liver-related.

Actually, the liver isn't on your back. It's in the upper right part of your stomach area, under your ribs. If you're feeling pain in your back, it might be something else. Don't waste money on unnecessary tests, but if pain persists, a doctor's visit is cheaper than guessing.

Beta, liver toh hamare saamne ki taraf hota hai, pet ke upar, daahini (right) taraf. Ribs ke neeche. Peeth mein nahi hota. Agar peeth mein dard hai toh woh shayad kamar dard hoga ya kuch aur. Apne doctor ko dikhao.

Listen, liver is on your right side, in the front, under your ribs. It's not on your back. Don't confuse it. If you have back pain, it's something else. Get it checked if it's bothering you.
