Where is the thyroid and parathyroid gland located?

My wife was diagnosed with a thyroid issue recently, and the doctor mentioned parathyroid glands too. I'm trying to understand the basic anatomy. Where are the thyroid and parathyroid glands located in the body?

The thyroid gland is at the base of your neck, shaped like a butterfly. The parathyroid glands are tiny, usually four of them, located on the back surface of your thyroid gland. Knowing their location is good, but consult a doctor for any concerns, quick and efficient.

Dealing with thyroid issues can be really tough emotionally, so it's good you're learning about it. Both glands are in your neck. The thyroid is a butterfly-shaped gland at the base of your throat, and the parathyroids are tiny glands usually sitting on its backside. It's a lot to process when you have problems with them.

Beta, the thyroid is in your throat, in the front of your neck, like a small butterfly. And the parathyroid glands are just tiny dots behind it. They are small but very important for our health, so take good care.

They're both in your neck! 🦋 The thyroid is like a butterfly at the front, and the parathyroids are super tiny dots usually behind it. Such small glands, but they do so much! 😄

Okay, so thyroid is at the base of your neck, butterfly-shaped. Parathyroids are small glands, usually four of them, on the posterior (back) surface of your thyroid. That's where they are.
