When would a craniotomy craniectomy be performed for hemorrhagic stroke?

A close relative is in the hospital after a hemorrhagic stroke and the doctors are discussing a craniotomy or craniectomy. It sounds very serious. When exactly would such a procedure be considered necessary for this condition?

While I believe in natural ways for small ailments, for something as critical as a hemorrhagic stroke, home remedies are simply not an option. A craniotomy or craniectomy is a very serious surgery performed by doctors when there is major bleeding in the brain causing life-threatening pressure. You must consult specialized doctors immediately.

Beta, this is a very grave matter. My elders would say such operations are only for when life is truly in danger from a brain bleed. It's for severe cases to reduce pressure. Only the best doctors can decide this, it is not a matter for simple remedies.

Ho na, these medical terms sound so scary! Basically, for a brain hemorrhage, if the bleeding is very bad and causing too much pressure in the brain, then doctors perform these surgeries. It's a critical decision, haan, made by neurosurgeons only.

A craniotomy (bone flap replaced) or craniectomy (bone flap removed temporarily) for hemorrhagic stroke is indicated for significant intracranial hemorrhage, especially when there's mass effect, brainstem compression, or refractory intracranial hypertension. The goal is to evacuate the hematoma and decompress the brain. It's a neurosurgical emergency.

Yaar, this is for super serious situations, actually. Like, if someone has a hemorrhagic stroke, it means bleeding in the brain. If that bleeding is causing a lot of pressure or damage, then the doctors go for craniotomy or craniectomy to remove the blood or release the pressure. It's a life-saving measure, not something light.

Craniotomy, craniectomy... sounds like they're just making up words now! All I know is, if a doctor is talking about this, it means the brain is in big trouble because of a stroke and they need to go inside and fix the bleeding or pressure. Definitely not for when you've just stubbed your toe, haha.

Oh god, this sounds so intense. I get anxious just thinking about it. Is this only for really extreme cases? Like, if the brain is swelling too much? Has anyone here known someone who went through this, what was their recovery like?
