When to worry about breast pain?

I've been experiencing some tenderness and occasional sharp pain in one of my breasts for a week now, especially when I touch it. It's not constant. When should I really start to worry about breast pain and get it checked out by a doctor?

Most breast pain is hormonal and normal. But if you have persistent, localized pain that doesn't go away, or if it comes with a lump, skin changes, nipple discharge (especially bloody), or changes in breast size/shape, then you worry. See a doctor immediately. Don't wait.

Yo, my sister had some breast pain a while back, and she freaked out. Turns out it was just hormonal, no biggie. But the doc said to worry if it's like, a constant sharp pain, or if you feel a weird lump, or if there's any discharge. So yeah, if it's not normal, get it checked by a specialist.

OMG, I sometimes get breast pain before my periods, and I always worry for a bit! But then it goes away. My friend's mom told her to only worry if the pain is constant, really bad, or if you feel a new lump. Basically, anything that feels 'not normal' for you. Better safe than sorry, so check with a doctor if you're stressed.

For breast pain, do not google home remedies or self-diagnose. While a lot of it is hormonal, the symptoms of something serious are often similar initially. If you have persistent pain, a new lump, nipple discharge, or any skin changes, you need to see a doctor for a proper examination. Don't trust internet forums for this; get a professional medical opinion.
