When to take 2 year old to er for fever?

My two-year-old son has had a fever since morning, and it's not going down much with paracetamol. He's a bit lethargic too. I'm worried if I should take him to the ER or wait it out at home.

I totally get how scary this is! It's always hard to know when to rush to the ER. For a 2-year-old, if the fever is super high (like 104F or above), or if they're having trouble breathing, a seizure, or are unusually limp/unresponsive, then definitely head to the ER. Trust your gut.

Ah, the dreaded ER trip with a toddler! For my 2-year-old grandson, if the fever hits 104F and he's not responding to medicine, or if he's having a hard time breathing, then my daughter just scoops him up and goes. No point wasting time. Better to be safe than sorry, and get some sleep later.

With my two kids, I've learned that you don't mess around with high fever in toddlers. For a 2-year-old, if it's over 104F and not coming down, or if they're very drowsy, pale, or struggling to breathe, don't wait for your regular doctor. Go straight to the ER. Always pack a bag for these unexpected trips.

I can only share my experience. For my 2-year-old, we went to the ER when he had a febrile seizure because of a high fever. It was terrifying. Now, if his fever crosses 104F or he seems unusually ill or unresponsive, we just go. It's better than stressing at home.

Beta, bade buzurag kehte the ki jab baccha bohot behaal ho jaaye, ya saans lene mein takleef ho, toh der mat karo. Ghabrahat mein kuch gharelu nuskhe try karoge toh time nikal jaayega. Seedha hospital jaao. Wahan toh ache se dekh lenge na.

I'm always extra cautious with health, given my own struggles. For a 2-year-old, if the fever spikes very high, around 104F, or they suddenly become very sleepy and unresponsive, or have trouble breathing, then it's not a time to wait. Go to the ER for immediate medical attention. Better safe than sorry.

In our culture, elders tell us to keep babies warm and give home remedies, but for an ER situation, it's about life. If a 2-year-old has a very high fever, is struggling to breathe, or has a fit, then you must go to the ER. Our doctors always emphasize that quick action is best in such cases.

From a practical standpoint, for a 2-year-old, an ER visit is indicated if the fever is above 104°F (40°C), especially if it's accompanied by severe symptoms like difficulty breathing, seizures, a non-blanching rash, severe headache, stiff neck, or extreme lethargy. These are critical signs.
