When to start eating again after vomiting?

I had a bad bout of food poisoning yesterday and was vomiting a lot. I'm feeling a bit better now, but my stomach still feels queasy. When is it safe to start eating again after vomiting, and what kind of foods should I begin with?

Usually, after vomiting, I focus on rehydration first with ORS. Then, once my stomach feels settled for a few hours (I track my symptoms, obviously), I'll try bland, easy-to-digest foods like plain rice or boiled veggies. Avoid anything heavy or spicy for at least 24 hours. Listen to your body and don't push it.

After vomiting, your stomach needs rest, beta. Don't eat immediately. Wait for a few hours till you feel a little better, and try sips of water or plain ORS. Then, slowly, try very light food like a small piece of plain toast or some thin rice gruel. Don't rush it, your body will tell you.

From my experience, the key is patience. After vomiting, don't rush back to food. First, focus on hydrating with sips of water or ORS until you feel your stomach has settled, maybe 2-4 hours. Then, start with very bland foods like plain crackers, steamed rice, or boiled potatoes. Avoid anything heavy, spicy, or dairy for at least a day or two to let your system recover fully.

After vomiting, your stomach needs time to recover. It's best to wait for at least 2-4 hours after the last episode of vomiting before attempting to eat anything. Start with small sips of clear liquids like water or ORS to rehydrate. When you feel ready, introduce bland, easily digestible foods like plain toast, idli, or rice porridge in small quantities. Avoid spicy, oily, or sugary foods initially.

With kids, after they vomit, I make sure they don't eat anything for a couple of hours. Then I slowly give them sips of ORS or just plain water. Once they seem settled, I offer very bland food like a spoonful of plain curd rice or khichdi. No milk or oily stuff for a while. Patience is key to letting their tummies recover.

After vomiting, your stomach is very weak. My mother always said to rest for some hours and only take sips of jeera water or plain water. Once you feel a little better and no more vomiting, then only slowly start with some plain rice kanji. Don't eat anything heavy or spicy for a day or two. Listen to your body and your doctor.

Wait until your stomach feels completely settled, usually a few hours. Start with clear liquids, then bland foods gradually.

When your body has expelled what it needed to, it is asking for rest and gentle care. Take small sips of water and allow yourself time. When you feel a little strength returning, start with simple, blessed food that is easy on the stomach. Listen to your inner self. Take care.
