When to call doctor for fever?

I've had a low-grade fever for two days now, around 99.5°F, and feel a bit run down. I'm not sure if it's serious enough to bother the doctor. When should I typically call a doctor for a fever?

I always get so worried when I have a fever! What if it's something serious? For me, if it's over 102°F and doesn't come down with paracetamol, or if I feel really weak and have body aches for more than a day, I call. Does anyone else feel this much anxiety?

Honestly, don't make my mistake. I once had a persistent fever, thought it was just a viral, and it turned out to be dengue. If your fever isn't breaking with normal medicines, or if you feel exceptionally unwell, please get it checked. Early diagnosis makes a huge difference.

Hey! For me, if the fever is really high, like 103°F or more, or if it stays for more than 2-3 days even with meds, that's when I call the doc. Also, if I feel super tired or have other weird symptoms like a bad sore throat or persistent cough, I get it checked. Better safe than sorry!

As a parent, I'd say if the fever goes above 102.5°F, or if my child is very lethargic, not eating/drinking, or having trouble breathing, that's an immediate call. For adults, usually if it persists more than 48-72 hours or is very high with other severe symptoms, a doctor visit is needed.

In my time, we'd wait a day or two, but now doctors say to be more careful. If a fever is accompanied by any difficulty breathing, severe pain anywhere, or confusion, don't delay. For a normal viral, usually 2-3 days is fine to observe, but if it's not settling, then consult. Trust your instincts too.

Hey there! Usually, if the fever is very high (above 103F for adults) or accompanied by severe symptoms like difficulty breathing, rash, confusion, or stiff neck, seek medical attention quickly. Otherwise, if it's a mild fever with no other concerning symptoms, you can wait for 24-48 hours while taking paracetamol and resting.

Bro, for me, if I'm getting chills with the fever, or if it's not going down even after a day of meds, I just call up my family doctor. Don't want to miss my classes or anything, so quick checkup is better than being sick for longer, ya know?

Hello everyone. I'm new to all this. So, if the fever is not very high but comes with shivers or headache, should I still call? Or is it okay to wait for 24 hours? Just trying to understand.

I actually use a smart thermometer that tracks temperature and suggests when to consult based on age and fever pattern. Generally, if it's over 102°F or lasts more than 48 hours without other specific symptoms, my app flags it. If you have severe pain or confusion, that's an emergency.

My rule of thumb is, when in doubt, call the doctor. Especially if you have any other symptoms like a rash, severe headache, stiffness in the neck, or if the fever just feels 'different' than usual. It's always better to be safe and get a professional opinion than to regret later.
