When should a newborn sleep in their own room?

My baby is 4 months old now, and we've been co-sleeping. My mother-in-law keeps saying it's time he sleeps in his own room. What is the recommended age for a newborn to transition to sleeping independently in their own room?

Many pediatricians recommend room-sharing (baby in your room, but in their own safe sleep space like a bassinet) for at least the first six months, or ideally up to a year. This helps reduce SIDS risk and makes nighttime feeds easier. After that, it's really up to what feels right for the family and baby.

It's a personal choice for every family. Many parents prefer to keep the baby in their room for the first 6-12 months for safety and convenience.

Hey, don't stress too much about this! Most people keep the baby in their room, in a crib next to them, for the first 6 months to a year. It's safer and easier for night feeds. After that, when you feel comfortable and the baby is sleeping better, you can try their own room. Do what feels right for you!

Beta, for a newborn, keeping them close to you, maybe in a palna or small cot in your room, is always better. For the first few months, at least until 6 months, so you can easily feed them and keep an eye. Later, when they sleep through the night more, you can shift them. Every child is different, so do what works for your family.

When should a newborn sleep in their own room? Ideally, when you feel like you can finally get more than two hours of uninterrupted sleep! But seriously, most experts say 6-12 months for safety. Before that, you'll be up every hour anyway, so might as well keep them close. My baby is still with us at 1 year and I'm still tired!

While managing diabetes needs strict timing, for babies' sleep, it's more flexible. Most experts suggest having the baby in your room, in a separate crib, for the first 6 months to a year. It's important for monitoring them and easier for feeding. Prioritize safe sleep practices over rushing them to their own room.
